Murder on the Buffalo Express sells out the Piedmont depot
The Southern Ghost Girls Tours sold out Saturday night's murder mystery at the Southern Railroad Depot Museum, with a storm-dodging dinner assist from Shell's Downtown and JB's Wings N Things.

The Buffalo Express Murder Mystery event at the Southern Railroad Depot Museum in Piedmont, Alabama, was a blast! We had a sold-out crowd of 65 people show up. Special thanks to the Southern Ghost Girls Tours for hosting the event. Weather in Alabama can be uncertain and change at a moment's notice. With the chance of storms on the day of the murder mystery event, the dinner, which is usually served outside the depot museum, needed somewhere indoors with enough space to serve the 65 guests. Thankfully, Michelle Cook with Shell's Downtown offered to let everyone dine at their event venue across the street from Shell's Downtown. JB's Wings N Things catered to the guests with a very delicious dinner!
After dinner, everyone made their way back into the museum for the event. Upon entering, the museum transformed into the Buffalo Express, a train making its way from New York to Chicago. Unfortunately, an unforeseen event takes place when a body is discovered on the train! Guests are informed that an investigation must take place. Twelve volunteers participated as the main actors, with others volunteering for supporting roles to help give clues.
The characters were all introduced and quickly became suspects of the murder. Each round consisted of the suspects chatting together, giving their alibis of where they were when the murder took place. During each round, clues were revealed, making some more suspicious than others. After three rounds, the guests were all asked to guess who they thought committed the crime, and the murderer was finally revealed! Out of all 65 people, only one person correctly guessed who it was: Bobby McElwee, who just celebrated his 90th birthday! The murderer was arrested and justice was served!
It was a great event. There were several people who came from out of town to join in the fun in Piedmont. Southern Ghost Girls Tours will be back in Piedmont on October 30th for an '80s-style event with all proceeds going to support Venecia's Foundation, a Piedmont nonprofit helping cancer patients and their families.
