Piedmont Fire has a sharp new pumper with grant fund
The department's new Deep South pumper carries 1,500 gallons of water and a 1,500 GPM pump on a brand-new International chassis. It will replace Engine 1 as the first-due truck once lettering and equipment are finished.

The Piedmont Fire Department has a new truck in the bay, and it is a sharp one.
The department introduced its newest pumper this week, a brand-new Deep South Fire Trucks build sitting on a brand-new International chassis. Once it gets its lettering and equipment over the next few weeks, it will go into service as the first-due pumper, replacing Engine 1.
The truck carries 1,500 gallons of water and a 1,500 GPM pump, giving crews more water and more flow on the first truck to arrive at a call. For a first-due pumper, that combination is the whole job: get to the scene, and put water on the fire fast.

The purchase was made possible by a grant secured through U.S. Senator Katie Britt. In announcing the truck, the department also thanked the previous mayor and council for allowing it to apply for the grant, and the current mayor and council for supporting the purchase.
As the department put it, the goal is simple: to better serve the citizens of the City of Piedmont.
“If you see us out in it, stop and take a look. It is a sharp truck.”
